I don't buy spells in the baz. It could be the best spell in the world, but unless its under a couple hundred plat, I'm not buying. I'll wait until I get the appropriate drop, or somebody has an extra to donate.

old thread

Postby bill » Wed Dec 08, 2004 5:31 pm

Damn I had no idea this thread was so old.

Heh, re-reading my first post about mages. Wow so much has changed in 1 year for Magicians.

~Pets can zone
~Pets don't vanish when their owners are invisible
~Pets are restricted on which weapons they can and can't equip
~Pet canni is gone

Hmm, can't think of any others atm, can any of you out there add more to the list of changes to pets over the last year?

oh!

Oh yeah, not a change to pets but they did increase the efficiency of mage nukes by a really tiny margin, but they did do it.

They gave us Quick Damage to purchase finally.

They increased the effectiveness of our damage shields.

To help offset pet-canni and to bring us in line with druids more, they upped the mana regen on our Phantom armor line.

They gave us Elemental Draw/Siphon to help offset pet canni as well.

Hmm what else?

I think mages have a lot of unused potential. Say there's a raid, 20 pets standing around. And the only pet with a summoned weapon is the magician pet.

That's got to be able to add a few hundred DPS.

And those blasts are nice.

Yeah, look at the single mage on a 40+ person raid. Then look at 4+ toys per pet. Then look at how often pets either die to enrage or are told to have them killed before the encounter.

Pet toys don't add enough DPS to warrant emergency use.

If all those pet owners standing around sent the mage a tell, I know he would make them weapons.

Also, most pets don't have weapon graphics. Let's count them:

Mage pets. Low level necro pets, aka N/A. Beast pets don't. Shammy pets don't. Druid pets don't. Enchanter animations do but they are less useful than a low level necro pet...N/A.

Hmm, with 1 mage at the raid, no wonder you can see only 1 pet with weapons <3

My 61 pet hits for 60 max. With 7, diaku and FA it is hitting that most of the time. Now he is a 61 war so he quads (dual weld x 2). He also saves my ass when he does the "Gabener begins using you as a living shield thing". Part of the damage of a mob beating on me being absorbed by my pet is $$$. Pump STA and a Virt on him and I no longer have 5.8k hp... more like 8 or 9k. Put phantom plate on him....

LOL NOOOOO NERFING my Mage. She is one of my fav toons. Hehe i like that she can solo in places like Corathus Creep without too much worry. When she is there an dies its usually because of lagging.

Nice 12-month bump there =)

Interesting development since last year, now we have at least 2 magi with insta-clicky pet weapon summoning items. They make fire-proc daggers. Fnord and Skiba I believe.

That dagger is nice to have. I absolutely love mine, though I wish they would remove the lore tag from the daggers. I can only equip one dagger at a time, which is a little annoying.
