What I noticed was that as soon as I hit 60, the AA was flying compared to level 59 + AAxp set to 100% . For a druid, hitting 60 was a brilliant time to pass on the normal level xp grind and switch to AAs in PoNightmare at the wolves camp :)

I got some critical AAs (Exodus, Innate Camouflage, basic heal AAs) and then moved on with levelling so I was a bit more useful to groups. Different classes will stop at different levels (wiz at 62 for druzzil harvest, bard at 63 for fading memories etc.) to get the AAs that make a real difference.

My two bits on AA exp.

Postby Sadinmagi » Fri Oct 14, 2005 1:00 pm

AAs are always calculated at a lvl 51 rate. What this means in a zone where lvl 51s exp, regular exp is normally slow, and AAs will be just as slow. Now if a group of 70s took you to one of there zones, or the highest you will survive in, and kill reds to you, granted they will suck up most of the exp but since you need so little of that exp to lvl, both regular and AAs would fly.
(what happens when those lvl 70s kill greens to them, reds to you, i am not sure, they get no experience, but I assume their portion of the exp is just wasted and not divi'ed up by group.)

When you are 60, in a zone with other 60s, reg exp will be slow. Generally higher lvl you get, slower reg exp is. But AAs being calculated at lvl 51 will be moving fast. The amount of exp, reg or AA, depends alot on the zones available to you. Not all dblue and red mobs in all zones seem to give the same amount of experience. So it may seem AAs dont move fast at this level but it may just be the mobs available to you. Again getting into a 70s group and zone, reg exp will be good and AAs great.

When you get near 70, you can help a lvl 50 but he wont take much of your experience and will contribute almost nothing. If you can find mobs dblue to red, regular exp will move slowly(very slowly probably). AAs will still be calculated at a 51 rate and will just fly, as long as you are not just finding light blues and the amount of actual experience points you get from the lblue is too small to notice much movement.

So alot about how fast you can earn AAs at different lvls comes down to what zones are available to you and what groups you can get. It is sometimes better to get that regular experience and get the level to get you into that better zone that earns you the experience, then do whichever exp you need the most.

Now my 2 bits about switching between regular and AAs based on where you are at the moment, or mixing a bit of each at the same time.
You should be going full regular or full AA at any time. The only exception to this is if you just dinged a lvl, and are worried about undinging and want to make a safety margin from your last lvl. Otherwise, you get rewards faster, either a new level or your next AA purchase, if you go full exp one way or the other. So get your 5 AAs to that next purchase you want, or go all the way to your next level, whichever you feel is more important at the time. It is just like fighting more then one mob, if you can concentrate on them one at a time till they are dead, they end up doing less damage to the group then if you beat them all down to 20% simultaneously, and kill them all at that point.
And switching back and forth between regular exp and AAs just because you are on some poor exp mobs at the moment, or are in a raid which is always poor experience, just does not make sence. Yes reg exp will be damn slow, maybe even unnoticable, and AA exp may be fair. But in a good experience group where regular exp is good, the AAs will be fantastic. If what you really need right now is that next level, then stick to it. You will get to it eventually, and switching to AAs will just slow down getting that level. It is just the appearence of the AAs going faster that makes you feel better, and no sence being half way to next AA purchase AND half way to your level, concentrate on the one you need most.

I may have some misconceptions about how things work in EQ land, but if you think about it, i think you will see my idea has some validity to it.
Basically what I have to say to the person that started this thread, if you seem to be at a level where AAs are slow, regular exp is probably slow to and is do to the zones/groups available to you, it might be best to level up a little more, and when you are now placed in a good experience zone, it might be good to work your AAs and stay at that level for a while, good example is when you can finally get BoT groups, next step maybe being WoS.

thats when it's golden. The lower level gets awesome exp without being sucked away by the standard of "higher level gets most of the exp"

So you are saying the high level people dont waste any exp that would be theres, if they too high, it all gets divided amongst the rest of the group, that is sweet!

70s green

Postby Lemme » Fri Oct 14, 2005 2:54 pm

I think that with the 70s killing greens, the exp is still divied up.

Woot Sadin! Another person in the 100/0 or 0/100 percent camp. Agree 100 percent that that is the way to go.

I love it when people say that leveling exp sucks in zone a, but aa exp is good in zone a.

Depends on where you xp, but I believe 60 is better than 61 (never got a hardcore data parse of this, but pon wolves was too sweet to pass up for a druid at 60). In general if you're not a tank my advice would be : get to 60-65, do some AAs so you have the most important ones, then to 70 and continue AAs.

With my necro in low 50s hunting I've seen an extreme difference grouping with 60s toons and grouping with lev 70 toons.
with the toons in low 60s my exp was crappy. if the mobs were green to my group mates my exp shot up.

One thing to think of is that a lvl 70 group is gonna be alot more efficient at killing fast then a lvl 60 group so faster kills = faster AA's. Of course unless your soloing then it just helps to get 70 and kite in fire hehe.

Best place to xp for my knowledge

1) PoFire
2) Nest
3) RSS + DoDh missions

Fire gets first cause mobs have no hp and the kill rate is way much faster then rss or nest, plus you dont need to run around finding mobs.

Pofire is and always will be the easiest and fastest xp in the game.
My monk went from lvl 60-70 and 23 aa to 281 aa in a matter of 6 weeks. Almost all of that time was just clearing fire and popping xp aa when it was up. The other alternative (if you have a hardon for cash farming) is to do S Clues in the nest. Its fairly easy (you dont need to kill certain mobs) and its great xp/reward for time invested.
Hey everybody! I'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and a big butt, and my butt smells, and I like to kiss my own butt.

it will always be the easiest but not the fastest.

its all group dependant anyways. Anguish geared people are going to be able to do a lot more a lot faster so some areas might be more feasable for them to kill than a lesser geared group
