Cleric CH chain

Postby Ajaman » Fri Dec 31, 2004 10:28 am

Could we create a standard CH chain hotkey format please, just looking for the message in /auction and physically counting isn't the most efficiant way to do it. I respectfully submit the following template:

line 1: /auction COMPLET HEAL INC < %t >, AJAMAN you are next!
line 2: /cast (CH gem slot)
line 3: /pause (enter the pause time between healers)
line 4: /auction AJAMAN CAST NOW!

I know we all like our clever little cast messages but this way everyone does it the same way and there is no question when/who the next healer in the chain is and when they are supposed to cast, the only thing the caster needs to watch for is a fizzle, which at our level/skill should be VERY rare.

Thanks for your time

totally agree AJ....BUT

I def do not like the pause command....at all.

It is different with everyone, and fizzels and whathave you cna make it go all fubar.

Plus its very tough to get ppl to speed up or slow down chain.

I would like to see a silent count in the CCH...

Like preset 5 seconds.

macro =

/auction CH INC TO %T, AJMAN NEXT
/cast CH
/cast CH
/cast CH

Done.

Everyone counts silent 5 seconds then casts.

No pause...pause = bad

know what i mean>

I would say that sounds like a decent idea!

Ok Zyzz, point made. Get together with the healing team and get a standard heal msg or if you like the officers can assign one :twisted

and like I said somewhere - com heal isn't what I mean by heal chain. I mean heal chain. in other words - lead healer - please - whoever you are for the raid - you make a healing chain that will keep the tank alive - take into account range of spells and the script for the encounter and whatever. if something is best served by complete heals or quick heals or whatever --- unless we don't have a lead healer and the raid leader has to set it up ----- set it up so that the raid leader doesn't have to work out the healing strat unless he wants to.

When I played my cleric I liked a #1 in front. You clerics rock so do what ever works. Here is what it looks like in Auction.

Cleric1: #1 CH inc to %t >> CLERIC2 is NEXT
Cleric2: #2 CH inc to %t >> CLERIC3 is NEXT
Cleric3: #3 CH inc to %t >> CLERIC4 is NEXT
Cleric4: #4 CH inc to %t >> CLERIC5 is NEXT
Cleric5: #5 CH inc to %t >> CLERIC6 is NEXT
Cleric6: #6 CH inc to %t >> CLERIC1 is NEXT

Just an idea...

Numbers

Postby Goofydoofy » Tue Jan 25, 2005 3:10 pm

Some people can't count, thus reading the numbers will be a problem for them. Take Zyzzerzazz for instance. Anything over number 4 and he starts getting confused.

To get around the fizzles, do the gem 3x in a row in the script, only 1 will take unless you are a "instant" caster. if first succeeds the other 2 get aborted since you are already casting, and if you get 3 fizzles oops... break out the epic for rez time if you didnt spot the message and recover manually. Or let the poor sob stand around naked wondering why his fate was tied to the clerics sex life, fizzle, fizzle, fizzle. /grin

Rez

Postby Goofydoofy » Tue Jan 25, 2005 4:13 pm

You need to die to need a rez. I don't die. I just make sure others die in my place.

First of all, I think the clerics are doing a great job on the chains. However, I think that I would agree with Wind on numbering the heal chain. I would recommend starting your cheal messages in a similar format, making it easy for healers outside the chain to see i.e.:

(#1) <<<<< CHEAL blah blah blah
(#2) <<<<< CHEAL blah blah blah
(#3) <<<<< CHEAL blah blah blah

Few reasons why:

1) Numbering makes it easier for the lead cleric to re-order the chain on the fly. For example, #2 cleric goes OOM or dies, we know right away which # is down and that #3 should pick up the slack. #2, if alive, can just say OOM in /auc so that #3 knows to pick up. The lead cleric can also assign a druid to fill in position #2 on the fly.

2) Less hassle to re-do shortcut keys. Also the use of numbers doesn't require the "HEY, <yourname> YOU'RE NEXT" message, which is kinda redundant once the head cleric has assigned numbers.

3) Non-healers and spot-healers will have a much better idea of what is going on in the chain because they usually do not memorize the chain order. If you can count to small single digits, you can tell if something is wrong with the chain.

4) Simplicity. It is much easier to maintain very long chains for very long battles using minimal mental capacity, especially if we get a lot of drops, replacements, re-ordering, ranger deaths, ooms, druids etc.

As for the channel use, just ignore those tards and continue using /auction. The entire raid needs to see the chain and using /rsay doesn't always help if people have gone LD, etc.
