Just a reference to the whole thing...I didn't even know there was format war going on.

honestly, this makes me angry cause i dont buy blurays or hddvds, that should make me indifferent right? but no, i buy regular dvds! i cant afford an hd tv and to me they dont look that great anyways. When you go see a movie in a theater, special effects look real and you get a better experience from it because you cant tell its fake. The new formats will just make movies like the upcoming ironman and hulk movies look worse on dvd. I suppose as long as they continue to sell regular dvd versions of movies ill be happy, but im not willing to spend 50 god damn dollars on a stupid blu ray disc or an hd dvd. come to think of it i dont even think my computer, xbox 360, dvd players, and laptop can even support blu ray, so if a full transfer happens im just going to get raped with a baseball bat.........I VOTE NO ON BLUE RAYS..(hd dvds are ok cause they are supportable by my systems)!

HD DVD is dead. No new movies will be released. No more players will be released. You can snag a HD DVD add on for your 360 for less than $50 now. Most stores are clearing out HD DVDs and the discs can be bought from between $8-$20 each.

Picture quality for both formats is noticeably better than DVD. Both formats had identical picture quality. PQ seemed more dependent on the source material than the format.

It seems that since Blue Ray has won the battle, the number of buy one get one free offers has dipped quite a bit.

Playstation 3 is probably the best Blue Ray player for the money. The biggest knock I have with the PS3 is that the remote is a bluetooth remote vs IR, so the universal IR remote you have all your other equipment programmed to will not work with the PS3.

As I have stated in other posts I do not think the best format won, but Blue Ray is what we have. I still would recommend it if you have a nice HDTV setup.

They need to offer a refund or something for all the money and crap consumers wasted on HDDVD or make it so they work on Bluerays.

Where would you propose the money come from? The dying HD companies? Blue Ray surely shouldn't have to offer money to former HD users just because their format won. Picked a format that lost? Just gotta suck it up.

Why? My HD DVDs will still work even after they stop making them.

The thing is I probably have about the same amount of $$$ in my HD DVD player and 20 or so HD DVDs as I spent on my PS3 alone.
