Upgrading SoF armor drops

Postby Jaella » Wed Dec 05, 2007 11:21 am

Found this on EQboards:

GROUPERS:
T1 = T1 group armor from T2 zones (Bloodmoon, HoS, Beza, etc.) or Bazaar
T2 = T1 group + Steam Cores from T3 zones (Steam Factory, S.H.I.P, Zeka, Meldrath's Mansion)
T3 = T2 group + Elemental Drops from Crystallos group areas

RAIDERS:
T1 = T1 from T2 SoF Raid targets
T2 = T1 + Gyro Core from T3 Raid Targets
T3 = T2 + Elemental drops from Crystallos raid targets

Were there four tiers of armor in the new expansion or just these three? So basically this is the best in game gear you can get if only tier three? Or whats the story with this new gear?

I like the fact that Crystallos has "group" content. :) Solteris was rather disappointing, because it lacked this. Thanks Jae for the good info too!

Crystalos group content is kicking ass against Solteris geared 1-2 groups too. So its a good thing it will take a long time to be able to get this stuff, and it wont just flood the game. BTW, Crystalos named are dropping stuff with more hp/mana than Solteris stuff.

Here some information I gathered from Samanna's about how to upgrade the Tier'd group gear in SoF.

The Steam Core: Dedicant is what you need to upgrade your DFT2 armor to DFT3. You must buy a Steam Core Embedder and combine the Steam Core and the armor. The Steam Core Embedder is bought from Automated Vending Unit II in Dragonscale Hills, who is on the Ak'anon Strike Force V faction [need indifferent faction to see it] for 1500pp. Steam Cores drop in SHIP, MMM, and in the Gyrospheres.

The Ice Essence, Fire Essence, Earth Essence, or Air Essence are used to upgrade your DFT3 armor to DFT4, using . They drop off of mini-named in the Crystallos zone [btw, the named can spawn off of any mob kill, so beware, named are called An Elder XXX Wyvern, etc.]. Each essence has it's own advantages and disadvantages. Note also, do not confuse Earth Essence with Earthen Essence [used for a Crusaders of Veeshan quest, one for each -en essence type].

A Elemental Essence Amalgamator with Amiable with Crusaders of Veeshan faction for 500pp can be used to combine all 4 of the essences into a Prismatic Essence. That essence is used to upgrade DFT3 armor to DFT4.5 armor [I have no idea if you can combine DFT4 armor with the Prismatic Essence to get DFT4.5, best to be safe about it, the essences should be common enough]. The Prismatic Essence has all of the positives of each essence, but none of the negatives.

You use an Elemental Essence Grafter to insert an Essence [any type, including the Prismatic] into DFT3 armor to make the DFT4 and DFT4.5 armor. It is sold for 2500pp at Amiable with Crusaders of Veeshan faction. An item, the Elemental Essence Extractor can be bought [450pp?] and used to remove an Essence from your DFT4 and DFT4.5 armor [returns the armor to DFT3 state], and return the Essence to you.

Meh, its not that bad. Its a serious fight but 1 grp can easily do earth side with no problems. Ice side as well but with less mobs for experience. We've been doing with my gear level which you can see in my magelo's below.

solteris gear is better than crystallos group armour, for example my event 2 solteris shield has more ac, and slightly more hp/mana as well as better mod's ect. however, it does upgrade my raid TSS armour by a good bit
