What are your five favorite movies?

Postby Bilnick » Mon Mar 05, 2007 10:30 pm

Many people were chatting in ventrillo the other night about thier favorite movies. So lets hear it...what are your top 5 favorite movies?
My list

- The Empire Strikes Back easily the best movie of the 6 star wars movies.
- Tombstone great cast, good action, plenty of great lines.
- The Blues Brothers best. musical. ever. Plus this movie probably single handedly saved Chrysler in the early 80s. There had to be 40-50 Dodge Diplomats sacrificed.
- Old School We're going streaking through the quad!
- Goodfellas great gangster movie, my favorite.

Any movies with titties are my 5 best.

Actually, I don't have bests. In anything I don't think. I like it or I don't. Or something in between. Still, titties are good.

Hmm, this is a toughy...

I definately can't put my top 5 in order, heck can barely pick my top 5, but...

Boondock Saints - Wanna see some irishmen start kicking ass and take down a mob syndicate? And the ending scene speech they give I still have memorized. It's a pretty powerful and compelling speach lol.

Serenity - Movie that was based on the failed TV series Firerfly (didnt fail, but only lasted 1 or 2 years). Movie is amazing.

Troy - Just love it. All the new movies coming out about Greek mythology are really cool when they are well done.

Man on Fire - Denzel Washington goes berserk when he thinks a little girl (Dakota Fanning) is killed after being kidnapped. And Dakota Fanning is an amazing little girl with some great talent.

Braveheart - Does that even need an explination? FREEDOM!!!!
Lord Horcrux Soulshard - 80th Deathcaller - Retired

Nathan: "Brother versus brother. It's almost biblical."
Peter: "My brother can't walk through walls! Who are you?"

HEROES comes back September 15th with a 3 hour premier!

#1 Fight Club No brainer, I can watch this movie all the time. Once you look past all the outwardly weird things, its a great witty movie, tons of different philosophical meanings and messages sent throughout.

#2 Pulp Fiction One of the great of it's time. Samuel L. Jackson became famous off this movie. This movie has one of the largest cast of famous people and good actors I can think of. Most of them got their big break with this one or were first found. Just an all around masterpiece of wit, style, and entertainment.

#3 Donnie Darko A great movie if you haven't seen it. Most likely very confusing unless you do a little research into the meanings and such. But a rewarding experience, many good actors in this movie.

#4 American Psycho Christian Bale is just plain awesome in it, his best performance next to The Prestige IMO. Very eery movie too, but watching it and really paying attention once you look past odd and bizarre its a very interesting movie which tells the tale of all mankind, what one man does or DOESNT do (up to you to decide if its real) that we know we would do if we let our deepest desires or ID come out.

#5 Honorable Mentions: Clerks, Chasing Amy, Frequency, The Prestige, Labyrinth

Honestly it takes alot for me to set down and watch a movie, it has to be real good or really funny so I can only think of 2 that would be my fav's.
Cheech and Chong-Up in Smoke....I can watch that 100 times over
The Thorn Birds....and all its sequels

Fight Club (although the book >> the movie) - Chuck's stories are always very entertaining and leave you thinking, and Ed Norton and Brad Pitt play their roles very well (about the only time brad does is in this film)

A Clockwork Orange (again the book >> the movie) - Class, class, class and a bit of the ol' ultraviolance, a Stanley Kubrick masterpiece.

Mulholland Drive - David Lynch likes to mess with your head, he does so very well with this film. Right up until the end you think you know exactly what is going on, then he pulls the rug from under your feet and you are left thinking WTF.

Clerks - the best dialogue ever, a damn funny film.

Sin City - awesome lineup, spectacular cinematography, bad guys get their comeuppance like no other in this film (and Frodo is a creepy bastard).

There are so many more that could go in this list, but then it wouldn't be a top 5.

Favorite movie is so hard to pick cause they are all so different. I picked a little from each genre I like

Napoleon Dynamite (cliche and immature maybe, but its so classic)

V for Vendetta

Sin City

The Notebook (I know a lame romance in my top 5 but this was a damn good movie)

Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind ( a little effed up but thats the way I like em)
But I still love technology
