FACTION guide / estimate

this was lost sometime /shrug.

here is a simple approximation of faction. found 3 different versions don't know which is right.

Ally = +4 1450 to 2500
Warmly = +3 1100 to 1450
Kindly = +2 750 to 1100
Amiable = +1 150 to 750
Indifferent = 0 0 to 150
Apprehensive = -1 0 to -150
Dubious = -2 -150 to -750
Threateningly = -3 -750 to -1100
Ready to Attack = -4 -1100 to -2500


or

Ally 1100 to 2100
Warmly 750 to 1099
Kindly 500 to 749
Amiable 100 to 499
Indifferent 0 to 99
Apprehensive -100 to -1
Dubious -500 to -101
Threatening -800 to -501
Scowls -2100 to -801

that the number of hits? like +2500 = 2500 hits positive (assuming you start at indifferent?)

of course some mobs have bigger 'hits' than others.. might show one but be worth 5, or even 100.. like raid targets, names, etc.

Still a useful thing to look at. My erudite necro needs to work on his lizard factions.

you can not take more than 2k in hits from your start/baseline faction.

So if you start at Zero you can never rise more than 2k.

HOWEVER if you start at say pos 500 you can then get up to pos 2.5k.

Likewise if you start at say, neg 500 you can get down to neg 2.5k.


Say I as a wood elf started at neg 755 to iksar warrior faction. I could raise it to a MAXIMUM of pos 1245 which would be Warmly. Then again a wood elf might not be so high as neg 755 when they start - say maybe I started at neg 1200. This would make the highest I could get to pos 800 which would be Kindly.

All numbers here are made up - with the expection of the 2k in increase/decrease avail to you.

Seeing how some mobs give different amounts of faction and then there are quests that give faction also, faction charts are worthless.

I can say from months hanging around Dranaks and finally achieving max ally that the charts as a basis are pretty accurate.

For a set "hit" of faction the chart is very useful. MOST faction hits are actually just 1 at a time. There are special hits that give huge bonuses (negatives)

On average it is estimated that a typical kill faction bump will give you 10 negative faction and 1 positive faction for competing factions.

for example killing a regular giant in Kael will give you neg 10 giant faction hit (ussually 2 factions) and a positive 1 faction for CoV and Dwarves - depending on area and mob you might not get both.

There are widely reported big bumps from some mobs. Sir Lucin, lord Y in skyshrine and King Tomax in KD and Dain in Thurg keep are all reported to get a neg 1k faction modifier. It is also suspected that you get a plus 1k faction boost for appropriate factions. This is not confirmed numerically so far as I know.

SOME faction bumps HAVE been confirmed. for example - EVERY quest and mob kill faction boost available in Kunark works off of the 1 positive 10 negative rule. WITH a possibility that the bosses VS, Royals in Chardok, drusila in HS and dragons being different. I have personally confirmed iksar factioning as working on the 1 : 10 ratio for all faction quests and kills.
