Best movie so far this year...

Postby Horcrux » Wed Mar 11, 2009 5:50 pm

Gotta say, good movies have been slim pickings so far this year. Watchmen blows them all out of the water. If you liked 300, this is a must see!

I am very unhappy when I dug thru my comics that have been sitting in boxes for 15 years, I only have issues 1-8 of the Watchmen (F/NM). drops their value by half not having the last 4 issues.

Full originals in F/NM are selling on Ebay for $100-$150

I've never read the comics so I'm not sure how accurate the movie is. But I was able to follow it easily enough without much background knowledge.

I did read a lil bit on Dr. Manhattan a while back so he was easy to follow for me. Someone compared Peter Petrelli from Heroes to him, in that both Dr. Manhattan and Peter Petrelli are ultra powerful but have a flaw. Dr. Manhattan is like a god who doesn't care, and Peter Petrelli is (well was, hes pretty awesome right now) a over-emotional dumbass who, while being the most powerful entity on the planet, can't seem to do jack shit.

Id have to say Benjamin Button was the best so far with Watchmen a close close second and Defiance 3rd. I like war movies though so i may be biased. Im really looking foward to these movies....Public Enemy, Wolverine, Transformers 2, GI Joe, Star Trek, and I Love You Man. Oh and Terminator

Don't forget the long delayed Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince!

I have never seen any of the Harry Potter movies either, but Frys.com had a deal for 5 Harry Potter HD DVD + a Xbox 360 HD DVD player for like 50 dollars so I couldn't pass it up. (Yes I know HD DVD is dead but I already own 2 players and 60+ discs so having 2 hi def formats is no issue for me)

I do not get out to the theater all that often (maybe 4-5 times a year) so most of my viewing is at home on my big screen.

Best movie I have seen so far this year is Body of Lies. Pretty much every movie Russel Crowe is in is good, and Leonardo DiCaprio is quickly approaching similiar status.

Powder Blue looks good, for no other reason than it is Jessica Biel as a stripper. :love
