pulling casters

Might be a day late and a dollar short, but to expand on Uliea's LoS explanation, pulling casters is actually easier then a lot of mele mobs cause they split for you.

Like Uliea said, mobs need to be LoS on you to begin casting a spell. If you don't have a lot of split room, or there are a lot of casters, then one way to make them act like mele is use long ranged items, and get out of LoS before your item hits, and they will all charge. If you use this tactic you treat them like mele mobs and pop back up when one begins pathing back to get them to naturally split. Also, using this method, you pretty much need a tagger.

Another method if you have some room to maneuver is to let the caster split himself. Hit with long range item, stand in LoS until spell begins, as soon as you see it start, get out of LoS and FD as soon as spell lands. This usually results in Mele splitting themselves from casters for you.

There are also a million little tricks like using server ticks to help your splitting, and that stuff you kinda have to get a feel for and play around with. Try throwing a ranged item and Fd right as it hits. Then stand and throw another item and watch what happens with mobs around your pull target.

I prefer to just run in a room full of mobs and die and let the rest of the people worry about the rest.
