Your housing is where you will put your goods up for sale bazaar style.
People can goto a centralized broker in the city and buy your goods for a slightly marked up price, or they can travel to your house and buy directly from you. Also, you will be able to buy trade skill machines and work your tradeskills while at the same time having things for sale.
Although not implemented at this time i would assume there will be some form of storage you can do there as well.

you can buy chests for more storage. play 'dress up' with the place. it is a prestige type of thing. you can also assign privs to people to share a home or estate (married peeps)

you can go trader while in your home. it is like a decentralized bazaar. if you decide to share your living space with others you could turn your pad into a sort of flee market or something.

You can buy a bank chest and store gear in your home, have a pet - still waiting for monkeys to be available - bazaar is replaced by a board placed in the home. You can sell from your room, or visit someone elses room to buy. You can browse the market from your room or from a consignment merchant, but if you buy from the merchant as opposed to the player you pay a fee, certain percent, like 10 or 12. Also instead of paying the 5s a week, instead of paying collect your things and move out. Then move back in for free.
