slight change to DKP bidding policy

Postby Serano » Wed Dec 14, 2005 11:45 am

5) Bidding:
a) Bidding is open Bid and ussually in /gu , and is run by the Loot/DKP Officer. When the loot is announced for bid, players will offer bids in whole number bids in /gu or alt channel if called - bid based on the number of points available by checking the DKP standings. You may re-bid as many times as you like until you are out of points or the loot officer calls the item going once, twice, sold.
b) Bidding order is as follows:
i) Usable Classes at Raid (no drop)

There has been MUCH discussion amongst the officers - and we were concerned about the level requirement on some of our contents drops. After much discussion we have come up with a current answer to that issue and will be changing the bid policy to deal with that aspect. SOME are VERY opposed to anyone that can't use an item right now being able to bid - so take that into consideration if you fall into that category. Much like it doesn't make sence for ANY of us for a member to buy something with DKP that isn't an upgrade meanwhile cockblocking another member that can really use it.

That said our new policy is simply changed to:

i) Usable Classes and level(within 2 levels) at Raid (no drop)

Thus - any player that is within 2 levels is permited to bid on something. Say a level 63 wants to bid on an elemental pattern/mold or soemthing with a level 65 restriction on it. A level 66 would NOT be permited to bid on a greater or glowing rune for example but a level 68 could bid on both even tho they can't use it.

thats one way to read it, but a 68 already qualifies as a "usable class" so the within 2 levels statement needs not apply.

"within" 2 levels it should read "no more than 2 levels below the reguirement"

"within" takes less words than "no more than 2 levels below the requirement."

Would you consider this?

By the rules if a no drop item is in the loot and no one bids it will rot. Due to all available classes having one or just flat out having better gear. I know this may be really far fetched but you might want to address it. With all the back flagging going on the range of levels of the participants will be stretched. If the subject is addressed in the policy there will be no arguments.

b) Bidding order is as follows:
i) Usable Classes and level (within 2 levels) at Raid (no drop)
ia) Usable Classes and level (more then 2 levels) at Raid (no drop)
ii) All Raid attendees (droppable)
iii) All Raid attendees via the Forums. (Droppable -if raid leader calls no auction during event due to time)

Soooo gunna have loot that people can't grow into not be able to get, but gunna have anyone be able to bid on Emoush drops even if they haven't even started and cockblocking people at that point? Interestingggg... :)

The point of this is mainly for runes and required level gear. There will be exceptions to this of course. Like if there's a req 65 item nobody of lvl wants, but is an upgrade for a lvl 62. Then of course the 62 will get it instead of letting it rot.

This is mostly common sense. I have only seen a couple instances in my time in TF where people were shooting out bullshit bids that they should have. I think we do a pretty decent job as officers making sure people don't screw their guildies by trying to bid on things they shouldn't.

This is really just putting in writing what we already do. If you see a req lvl 70 item drop and see a lvl 63 start bidding on it, when we send them the tell to stop, we can refer them to this.

We can see members levels, anyone can lie about what point in DoN progression they are in. Members can get to Emoush stage in DoN progression in like a week or less if they grind it. A level 61 player can't grind to level 70 and equip X item in 1 week.

Like Phishn said, common sense & curtousy have ruled in the past on these matters but this is to prevent a super rare occurance from happening.

hmmm tail. we might stand to put that into writing.... but if there is a case where no one falls within the bidding restrictions and it is a no drop loot - I bet the loot officer would do the right thing.

I mean hell if there is a necro only item at a raid and only one necro ther e- guess who gets it for free? thats right - Serano.
