Case

Postby Goofydoofy » Thu Jan 06, 2005 6:19 pm

I may just buy a switch to turn it on and off and leave all the shit on the floor. I hooked it all up once already and realized I didn't have a switch to turn it on and off. I tried to jumper the connection on the motherboard where the switch connection would normally go in the hopes of getting it to turn on, but of course that was a no go. I'll just go buy a 50 cent switch and do it that way if I get boned again.

Comedy

Postby Goofydoofy » Fri Jan 07, 2005 3:32 pm

Well, the third case never arrived by next day air like I told them I needed it. So, when it gets here, I'm going to put my foot thru it and say it came that way and send all three back. I was able to find a case in town. Shoulda went that route from the start, but I didn't think there was one to be found any where around here. To bad I had to pay for one with a power supply that I need to take out and replace with a higher wattage one.

But oh well. Hopefully I'll get it all together and be ready to log into EQ for the Zeks and the motherboard will catch on fire.

Sigh

Postby Goofydoofy » Fri Jan 07, 2005 10:40 pm

I get it all hooked up and it powers on monitor light goes green then orange and nothing. Either my processor is dead (Brand new) or it is incomplatible with the motherboard, which was sold as a set. This computer shit is really starting to annoy me.

HMMM. that MIGHT not be processor Mobo problem. this is more Luthes lane - but it might be a jumper setting on your mobo. it might also be the cable plug ins from the case to the mobo - but I am sure you triple checked that.

I hear you tho - I have had remarkable frustration building computers and some pretty good luck other times.

It's the processor. It should beep when you have the motherboard hooked to power, the on/off switch, the cpu installed and the fan connected to the motherboard along with the speaker being connected of course. Nothing else. If no beep, the processor is bad.

I can't win. Guess I'll go spend another 100-200 if I can find a place that sells processors around here. I'm done with mail order computer parts.

It's a jumperless motherboard. Only jumper is to reset CMOS, which I did.

Soyo KT880 Dragon 2 motherboard. Checked the memory and thats working fine. Motherboard has power and everything on it checks out. Oh well.

e-Machine

Postby Goofydoofy » Sat Jan 08, 2005 5:43 am

I threw a gig of memory in a e-Machine and it runs about as good as my old 700. So, I'll be using this now until I get my new shit working.

Woot!

Postby Goofydoofy » Sun Jan 09, 2005 3:16 pm

Whatta joke. DONE! First motherboard seems to be incompatible with a new Windows XP install. It has RAID controllers and SATA Serial connections as well as the usual stuff. Keeps crashing the system at random points during install. Probably need some special driver just to make Windows install XP correctly let alone use the system. Sooooo.....

I trashed the fucking motherboard along with the brand new processor and bought a lower end motherboard and a higher end chip. Not one problem. I lost 5 years of animal/gay midget porno and music when I wiped the drive and decided to start over, but oh well. Nothing I can't refilm. Got about 2 days of software seraching/loading and I'll be set.

Will be back ingame today once all the updates are done being downloaded for Everquest. The rest can wait until I don't have a day off.

Pissed away a extra $250 I didn't need to, but ended a large headache. I'll take it.

With our's, let's see... The windshield wipers didn't work spent almost $600 to get them fixed, the brakes are 100% worn on the rear and 80% worn on the front (the mechanic wouldn't even test drive our car because he was afraid of the brakes,) the entire cooling system needs replaced (radiator, water pump, hoses the works,) the head gasket is getting ready to go, the battery needs replaced, the tires are crap, and we have no inusrance, so to recap, the only thing worth keeping on our (one and only) car is the license plate!
The one and only (thank God!) FEN!
SIMPLY UN-FOOLED AROUND WITH!
