EQ2 Extended

I have been just completely oblivious to everything going on in EverQuest while my semester was going on. I don't even know hardly any of the features of the HoT expansion other than the player housing I heard about, which frankly doesn't excite me in the least bit. Lol. Right now, I am in between semesters and itching to find something to fill in a bit of time for me (that is unless I can find a job out here someplace during my time off). I have thought about turning on EQ, but I thought it over and just don't see it as a good option when I would only have a month to play anyways before school is back on and I am taking a heavier class load for this coming semester, so paying to play anything just isn't viable. Has anyone tried out this EQ2 Extended that I see on their site? Free to play for a month sounds great to me. Would be even better if anyone I know plays it. :)

I think you play on a free server with a bunch of nooblets and you can buy upgrades.

I haven't played EQ2 since it was launched. I should look into downloading and playing on the free server.

All the Battlenet games are free to play for a month. Check em all out. They are all pretty good.

Well I tried it out. The first time I was on it, the load times were horrendous, worse than any I ever encountered in EQ. As with EQ, I could run the game at full graphics but I had to turn off the shadows because that always seems to lag up my computer. The gameplay seemed alright from the hour or so I played, but that load time was a huge turn-off. It literally took me about 10 minutes just to get in game and another 3 minutes once to load back to my bind point. I understand it is a free server and all and it may have higher populations because of that, but 10 minutes to get in a game is pretty ridiculous. I will give it a few other tests to see what I think about it and repost here.
