Hey!

Hey guys! Sorry to see that TF has fallen, so to speak :(

Well I picked up Final Fantasy 14 which sucked for a new MMO (horrible mechanics), which made me try 3 boxing Final Fantasy 13. But that game population is way too low, and half the population doesn't speak English. So I have found myself starting up EQ again to 3 box during my free time. A LOT has changed since I played (mercenaries, 10 more levels, etc), and so I was hoping to find some advice on trio teams since I don't fully know how mercenaries effect the game, or other balancings that have happened.

First option
Shaman, SK, Monk (pretty balanced, but never leveled any of the 3 classes so unsure)

Second option
Warrior, Bard, Cleric (relying on Bard debuffs would hurt on tough stuff but crazy versatile)

Third option
Shaman, Mage, Mage (would be fun but redundant gearing two mages I think)

Any other thoughts? Basically my goal of this would mostly be to just accomplish as much random content as I can. Mostly older expansion content that I never got to see.

All three options would work fine.

Or, you could use one toon and get into groups and stop being such a loner.

But three boxing may be a good call to catch up in level.

Well 1 day into trying this out and my War is 21, Bard is 21, and Cleric is 19. The Cleric is lagging behind due to being group leader and getting leadership points. However, do Warriors have an EXP bonus? The Warrior is slowly pulling ahead of the Bard, upwards of a whole level almost by now. Did not expect that. I originally tried the Shm/SK/Mnk but just didn't like it as much. I have less DPS this way, but I feel more in control.

Ah yes. I'll admit, having become a full time teacher and so much of my life being social and under scrutiny constantly I have started to become a big more of a recluse in my free time. I need something I can control where I'm not at mercy of other people. So I'm doing the 3 boxing so that I can see as much content as possible on my own terms. Like I'm looking forward to doing some LDoNs by myself, and don't want to try and rope people into content that old. If it was just to catch up in levels, I'd do one of the solo classes and blast the way to the top.

I think there are racial exp bonus. Forgot if there are class ones.

Must be a class thing, as both the bard and war are Wood Elf, but seems the War is getting about 10%-20% more than the Bard. Not a bad thing to have the tank be the highest level char though.

Oh, and this Defiant stuff is pretty bad ass.

So my 3 characters, Cleric Bard and Warrior, were created 4 days ago (Sunday night). Tonight they are now a 52 Warrior, 52 Bard, and 50 Cleric (sacrificing exp to leadership points). Fully geared in either Defiant or lowbie TSS quest/drop stuff. Haven't bought a single thing from the Baz yet. Well when I started hitting 52 tonight, figured what the hell, I'd try out a Dragon. Few hours later I pull this off!

So, not even 4 days since the characters were created I'm 3 boxing old raid targets haha. That's what I wanted to do with these guys so I'm accomplishing it :) Oh and by the way, I'm on Christmas break so this is killing all my free time lol. Wanted to get them as high as possible before back to teaching.

Yup, with those names obviously. The Aubrianna is not the original, she was recreated for this new run at the game.

What's wrong with a bard? I missed playing one after playing one for a few years. I already know pretty much everything there is to know about playing a bard (up to level 70) which is a hell of a lot, so not that tough. Plus having /melody makes the boxing easy. I thought about a Monk instead for my puller, but not as much versatility plus you have to mash buttons to keep up dps.

What does a green name mean?

Oh it's that gear has gotten way better. My toons are now level 65 with 200-300 AAs each, and I'm pulling about 15 AAs per hour pulling 4-5 mos at a time in PoFire. Along with my Cleric, Bard, and War, I bring 2x Rogue Mercs and a War Merc (his aggro management on large pulls is incredible compared to a 3 boxer).

In Final Fantasy 13 you control 3 characters so yes, it's like 3 boxing....

Shut up! You know I meant 11 lol. Final Fantasy 14 looks freaking incredible, too bad the gameplay is beyond horrible. It's worse than how EQ started, you'd think they'd know how to make an MMORPG now.
