For those not on Facebook.

Started school a few weeks ago. What I didn't know is that you can do this course with or without a masters degree program. Since I always said I wouldn't bother with a Masters unless the Army sent me to get one. Well now that they are I am working on it. So I have to go to like one extra class on top of what everyone else has to do - but at least it is during regular hours.

Still have over 50 boxes we havn't opened yet - so still need to focus on those during the weekends.

Meanwhile - OMG this course requires a ton of reading. about 70 pages I have to knock out tonight. Blah.

Some of the reading is interesting - but some is Dull dull dull.

What is the masters in?

The reading your talking about has to do with actually C&S stuff or your masters?

Either way, make the most of it before your too old to learn new tricks :jester

actually Both.

The masters is a degree in Military Arts and Science. So essentially the class I am in "ILE" is a degree producing school - but ONLY if you write the paper and take a couple research classes. So for doing the exact same coursework as everyone else you get a degree. The reason they don't just give everyone the same degree is because they want to afford the opportunity for peeps to take the same coursework and apply it to a degree in a different field if they so choose. And there are some national and local universities that apply the coursework to a very large range of Masters.

So this way they allow you to work harder (go to night school / distance learning) or just do one research paper and get the Generic Masters from the Army which is a fully accredited degree like you would get from any University - except no one outside of the Army really cares about it as it has little application outside the Military or academic environment. IN fact one of the very few reasons I am even bothering with it is because it makes me eligible to become a Professor of Military Science for an ROTC program down the road. Now will I be doing that? Prolly not. But at least it makes me eligible so if it comes up I can put my name in the hat.

Running an ROTC program in SoCal area would be ideal to my fam situation.
