I ate an MRE Omelet in front of Soldiers once. they couldn't believe the audacity. Their Drill Sergeants even told them not to eat the Omelet meal.

My only complaint about the grayish delicacy, is the bell peppers. I got it - peeps like bell peppers. but I mean - what were all those ingredients even doing in there - if all I could taste was the egg, cheese and peppers? I mean - I like Tomato on my Omelet just fine, but if I can't taste it anymore why even bother? Either less Bell peppers or none. Then again, maybe the Bell peppers are there to prevent you from tasting the rest. on Second thought, leave them in there!

my dad brought home mres from the gulf when i was a kid and stored em in the attic and brought em with us when me moved to phoenix. We went camping 7 years after the war to the grand canyon and that was all the food we had. the spaghetti was the only good one, i ate leaves, wood, and dirt the rest of the trip. I wont even eat the camping MRE's you can buy at stores because those sucked so badly. back to italian food, you didnt hear this from me but i think the macaroni grill is going to turn from italian to mediterranean here pretty soon. not liking what im hearing

I can't believe your dad took MREs on a camping trip 7 years after issue. They only have a two year shelf life. I can't believe you ate that stuff after it was so old. That is pretty funny.

two year shelf life on MREs people. if it says 06 or earlier (and it only shows on the case not the individual bags) throw it away. OH MY GOD!

Jeez when i was in the Army, many years ago, we were still getting C rations packed during the Korean War. Nobody died as i recall. My fondest memory was eating powdered eggs in a pouring rainstorm at Ft. Drum.

When I was in Nam and deployed in the field we ate C-Rats that were made during the 2nd WW, 3 or 4 times a day. My favorite was the one with the Rum Cake in it. Everyone in the squadron knew that and would often come and trade with me for other items.
C-Rats were pot-luck and you never knew what you were going to get. I never heard of anyone getting sick from eating one, unless they were just coming-off a major drunk the previous night. :jester

What Army are you in again? If the MRE isn't at least three years old and been sitting in the sun for 2 and half of those then it ain't worth eating...you know that :twak

Just to give you another point of reference: Cydian and I used to play the original version of Doom when it first came out, that was also the first PC game that eventually could be networked. We used to think we were very cool to be able to network 4 PCs and have late nights at work playing until the cows came home!

Just like good wine I get better with time! :cheers
